Raymond F. Skiles 's Obituary
Raymond F. Skiles was born November 24, 1936 in Dallas. He died peacefully, on March 27, 2020. He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Helen and daughter, Pamela Jackson and Kevin Jackson of Austin; daughter, Elaine Skiles and Wes Lewis of Garland; and son Thomas Skiles and Sheryl Skiles of Durango, Colorado. He is also survived by five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Skiles Phillips and three brothers: James Frances, Robert Marshall and William Butler Skiles. Ray attended public school in Richardson and graduated from Richardson High school in 1955. He then attended Southern Methodist University and received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He worked for Avery Mays Construction Company where he became Vice President of Construction Operations. In 1972, he formed a commercial construction company of his own, Ray F. Skiels Company, Inc. Ray served on the board of the Associated General Contractors of America and the board of First City Bank of Richardson. Semi-retired since the 1980's, Ray loved golf, travel, and most of all his friends and family. Ray especially enjoyed music and Marty Robbins could be heard throughout the house frequently. Recently Ray and Helen moved to Highland Springs Senior Living in North Dallas where he died of complications due to Parkinson's disease. Ray was buried on Tuesday, March 31 at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinson's Voice Project in Richardson, Texas or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Research.
