Raymond Stevens' Obituary
STEVENS, RAYMOND was born on January 14, 1920 in Cincinnati, Ohio and passed away on January 21, 2012 in Mansfield, Texas. Services were held at 12:30pm on Tuesday, January 24th at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marie Stevens and his wife, Ebba Stevens. Raymond was the oldest child of 12- siblings, Betty, Dorothy, Carolyn, Barbara, Margaret, Richard “Dick”, Larry, Bob, Melvin, Harold and Ronnie. He is survived by 3 daughters, Shirley, Barbara and Peggy, 6 grandchildren, Laura, Diana, Cliff, Leah, April and Ryan, and 6 great grandchildren, Blake, Nicole, Bryce, Braylon, Coen and Logan. Pops, as he was called, was a great, sweet and loving grandfather! Raymond served in the Air Force from 1941-1945, Air Force Reserves 1955-1958, and Air National Guard 1958-1978. He retired from the post office where he enjoyed working for many years. In recent years, he served on the board of his Retirement/Assisted Living home Horizon Bay as the VP and then President. Raymond was very active throughout his life, loved to workout at the YMCA and kept in very good shape. Everyone that met “Pops” loved him. He was described by many as “a piece of work”. He had a great “charm” about him. He enjoyed going to the monthly socials at Horizon Bay and loved the live music, food and a glass of wine. He also made his own wine at a winery in Grand Prairie with his own label “Pop Di’s Laughing Stock”. He enjoyed playing dominos, Mexican train and bingo. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers, Football and enjoyed playing football squares. Oh and he loved his Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders… we always knew he’d love a new calendar for Christmas! We are grateful that “Pops” lived a full and happy life! He will truly be missed!
