Raymond L. Syme's Obituary
Raymond L. Syme, age 90, of Mesquite, Texas joined God in Heaven on January 23, 2021 after a long life and a short battle with cancer.
Raymond was born on August 4, 1930 in Jarrell, Texas to Ollie and Beulah Syme. He met Helen Fuller at her father's grocery store and they were married on May 25, 1950 in Belton, Texas. In 1952, Judy Bonner was born; in 1954, Gary Syme was born. Cynthia Underwood wasn't born until 1962. With their family complete, they relocated to the Dallas Area. He had a successful career as a Market Manager for 40 years.
Raymond always loved to hunt, fish, travel and be with family. He loved working with wood and could build just about anything. Raymond also loved crocheting hats for cancer patients. He was always willing to help anyone but rarely asked for help, himself. Raymond will be remembered as a gentle giant; slow to speak and had a stern look but a great example of love and Christianity to all he met.
Raymond was preceded in death by his two sisters: Lucille Dalton and Dorothy Jaster; one brother, J.L. Syme and one granddaughter, Hilary Bonner.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Syme; daughters: Judy Bonner of Forney, TX and Cynthia Underwood of Alamo, TX; son, Gary Syme of Sequim, WA; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
