Raymond Edward Vache, Jr.
Raymond “Ray” passed away peacefully on June 5, 2022, at the age of 86. He was born March 19, 1936 in Dallas, Texas. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School and Southern Methodist University, and lived the majority of his life in Dallas and Richardson. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Vache, his father Raymond E. Vache, Sr., his mother Evelyn Vache, and his stepson Chuck Robinson. He leaves behind two sisters, Marie and husband Bill Collier of Fort Worth, and Ruth and husband Vern Dyer of Flat Rock, North Carolina, a niece Stacy and husband Dan Sangalli of Fort Worth, a nephew William Oldham of Dallas, a stepdaughter Cindy and husband Keith Ward of Lakeland, Florida, a stepdaughter Judy and husband Tim Smith of Mesquite, a stepdaughter-in-law Jo Robinson of Terrell, five grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Ray had a zest for adventure; he loved flying airplanes, traveling, water skiing, fresh and salt water fishing, snow skiing, dancing, and participating in marching bands, including the SMU Mustang Band, the SMU Diamond M-Club band, as well as many community bands around the area. Ray loved his family and friends and overall had a complete love of life.
Following SMU graduation with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1958, Ray accepted employment with the Texas Instruments Incorporated Apparatus Division. He participated in conceptualizing, designing, building and suppling state-of-the art electronic systems to solve current problems of the Department of Defense. Ray very early established himself as an outstanding and versatile Mechanical Engineer, contributing to developing capabilities of several Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance systems. Early in his career, Ray was selected as a Member of the Group Technical Staff, the top 10% of eligible engineers. Ray continued to be a
key contributor to all his projects. He was acknowledged by managers and senior engineers to be one of the top two Mechanical Engineers in TI. Ray continued his career as a mechanical engineer until sometime in 2021 at which time he retired from Polatomic, Inc., in Richardson.
