Rebecca Lynn Caldwell's Obituary
Rebecca was born July 25, 1950, to B.L. and Ann Dungan of Garland. She married Gerald Wayne Caldwell on June 29, 1975, in Okinawa, Japan. She leaves behind: her husband of 43 years, Major Gerald “Jerry” Caldwell; children, Matthew (Alexandra) Caldwell of Dallas; Mark (Kristina) Caldwell of Dallas; and Anne Caldwell of Plano. She was beloved “Grandmommy” to her grandchildren, Luke Theivagt, Siena Theivagt, Claire Caldwell, and Miles Caldwell. She is also survived by her siblings: JoBeth (Henry) Luman, Mark (Vickie) Dungan, and James (Vickie) Dungan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.Rebecca was a dedicated mother and consummate military wife, raising her children while her husband was often deployed with the United States Marine Corps. She encouraged her children to be outside in nature as much as possible, and she taught them to keep an open mind and heart, and to embrace the mysteries of life. Rebecca was also incredibly beautiful and served as Blyth Danner’s double in the movie The Great Santini. She pursued her love of learning and spirituality by serving as the Director of the Unity Preschool and Bookstore. Rebecca was a compassionate, caring, and incredibly wise person. She had a mystic’s heart. She loved life, her family, and all creatures big and small. Her beloved family and friends will miss her dearly and are thankful for her peace and comfort.The family will receive guests on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home.
