Reese Buchanan's Obituary
Reese Buchanan, age 90 of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 6, 2008, after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born on May 16, 1918 in Tupelo, Mississippi to Bob and Lula Buchanan. When he was one year old the family moved to Texas, where he stayed until graduating from Waxahachie High School. He went on to attend SMU while working for North American Aviation during World War II. In 1951 he married Moreas Morrow, with whom he had one son, Michael Reese Buchanan. At age 48 he faced cancer for the first time, retiring from Continental Can Company where he had worked for nearly twenty years. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and the Builders’ Sunday School class, and spent much of his time investing in and studying the stock market. Reese’s heart and home were always open to his family. He was a proud American often sharing his political views and sound business advice. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and devotion to his family. Reese is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Moreas Buchanan; son Michael Buchanan of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter Madison Buchanan; brother Mitchell D. Buchanan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Visitation with the family is scheduled for Sunday, September 7, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Restland on Greenville Avenue. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM at Lakeside Baptist Church, 9150 Garland Rd., Dallas 75218 on September 8, 2008. Graveside services will follow at Restland Memorial Park.
