Reginald Rhodes' Obituary
FRISCO- Reginald “Reggie” Rhodes was born on June 13, 1969 in Sacramento, California but later raised in Biloxi Mississippi where he attended Biloxi High. He was the son of Thelma and Julius Rhodes. On February 26, 2000 he married “his favorite girl” Dakota (Stephens) Rhodes. On October 25th we said goodbye to our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, soldier and friend, SFC Reginald Rhodes or Reggie to most. His love for his country and love of family and friends never wavered despite his longstanding battle with neck cancer. It was this same love that helped him through some of the most difficult times especially in the end when the cancer had spread to his brain. Reggie endured radiation, surgery and 3 bouts of chemotherapy in his fight against this horrible disease, all the while surrounded by friends and family. Through it all, he exhibited the strength and perseverance of a true and unyielding soldier never wavering in his course to seek the path of healing should that be in God’s plan. Reggie served in the US Army as a respiratory therapist and later as an Army recruiter where he was quite successful forging many relationships and leading young soldiers in their career paths. Not only was he a leader in the Army, but he led may youth in the civilian world, he coached baseball for many years instilling drive, and determination in the lives of the young men he coached. Reggie was an avid golfer and touched many lives both on and off the course. Reggie is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother Ida B. Joiner.
