Rene Tomas Junco's Obituary
Rene Tomas Junco, 94, of Rowlett, Texas passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020, in Rowlett, Texas. He was born on Monday, December 21, 1925 to Rogelio and Ramona Junco in Havana, Cuba. Rene married Laudelina Caridad Montano on December 28, 1949 in Havana, Cuba. He attended the University of Havana, Cuba and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting on September 29, 1945. He became a Certified Public Account on July 8, 1952. A long time Pepsi Man, his last position was as Director of Finance for Beverage, Foods and Services, a subsidiary of PepsiCo International. He was a past member of the Dallas Cuban Catholic Committee, a longtime member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and also a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Rene will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons; Rene Gerald Junco (Carol) of Dallas, Texas, George Junco (Tambri) of Rowlett, Texas and his daughter Maria Elena Matallana (Ernie) also of Rowlett, Texas. He is survived by his grandchildren and their spouses; Neil Junco (Kari), Kristina Bradshaw (Chris), Lauren Chacon (Ibrahim), Chris Matallana (Marisa), Danny Matallana (Valerie) and Brandon Matallana (Tiffany). He is also survived by his great grandchildren; Logan, Preston, Julian, Hadley, Pierce, Oliver, Elise, Camilla, and two great grandsons that will born later this year. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laudelina, the love of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 28th at 7:00 p.m. at the Restland Funeral Home in the Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 9:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic 1305 Damascus Rd, Rockwall, TX 75087. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery Garden of Memories, 92002 Restland Road, Dallas, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously request donations be made in his name to the American Heart Association or Meals on Wheels, which were very dear to our father.
