Hayden lit a candle in memory of Rene’ Moreno

René Moreno and I actually kind of met many many years back when he was an actor in NY and I was in high school! Get this… he worked at a restaurant called Carrabas or Carambas (can't remember the name) which was right across the street from where I grew up (96th street). We probably passed each other many times… then… My high school took us to see a production of Romeo & Juliet at the Public. I just remember this beautiful man giving such a beautiful, grounded performance. We had no idea that many years later we would meet again in graduate school. We had both forgotten about our previous "encounters" and when we realized it, we had us a great laugh. Oh, how the cosmos love to play these wonderful little games. We were meant to meet and forge an artistic and personal friendship. I am so very grateful we finally did. René… My mentor, dear friend, brother… This man… This being… His fortitude, his strength, his TALENT! And that smile… That humor… That spunk… One of the GREATS, period. He is now giving the angels that intense director stare he always gave and making sure the story is told with truth, clarity, and precision. Dear angels… Don't mess with papa Rene. Take his notes!

Dear Rene – – I'm so glad we had a chance to know each other for such a long time following your move back to Dallas in ' 91. I'm so saddened by your departure, but I know that the stage in heaven is a much livelier place now. My thoughts & prayers to your family.
