Retha Belle Walker's Obituary
Retha Hamilton Walker passed away peacefully on Sept. 23, 2016 in her home at Christian Care Independent Living Center in Mesquite, Texas. She was born on September 5, 1925 in Altas, Oklahoma to Houston and Vera Hamilton. The Hamilton family moved to Brownfield , Texas three years later. Retha was a graduate of Brownfield High School. Retha married E. Clayton Walker on February 22, 1947. Retha and Clayton relocated to South Oak Cliff, Dallas, Texas. They lived for 43 years in the Dallas areas. Retha was employed at Sanger Harris Dept. Store until retirement. She and Clayton retired to Rowlette, Texas in 1979. She was a member of the Centerville Church of Christ in Garland, Texas. Retha was preceded in death by her husband E. Clayton Walker, parents Joseph Houston Hamilton and Vera May Hamilton and brother Joe Hamilton. Retha is survived by her three loving children, Sheryl and husband Terry Seiders of Austin, Texas, Rickey and wife Janie Walker of Midlothian, Texas and Max and wife Vickie Walker of Garland, Tx. Eight grandchildren, Shannon Walker Demerse, Brad Walker, Scott Seiders, Stephanie Seiders Rutherford, Steven Seiders, Tiffany Walker Hauerwas, Jeff Walker, and Phillip Walker and eleven great-grandchildren. Services for Retha will be at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, September 27,2016 at Restland Funeral Home in the Wildwood Chapel. Rev. Ray Hunter will officiate. Following the service, there will be a short procession to Restland Memorial Park where Retha will be laid to rest in the Court of Reflections. Scott Seiders, Steven Seiders, Jeff Walker, Phillip Walker, Brian Hauerwas and Stuart Demerse will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Care Independent Living Center, 948 Wiggins Parkway, Mesquite, Texas 75150. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
