Richard Arthur Ashton, 77, of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. Born in Severna Park, Maryland, Richard lived a life marked by generosity, curiosity, and deep love for his family.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Richard served as a pilot. He remained fascinated by aviation and radios throughout his life, often fixing ham radios and finding joy in projects that involved building, tinkering, and learning.
Richard was known for his calm, easygoing spirit and his silly sense of humor. He loved the water and never said no to ice cream. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family, especially building LEGOs with his granddaughter Jade and watching movies together.
He is survived by his daughter Whitney Ashton-Swanson and her husband Neil, his son Richard George Ashton, and his granddaughter Jade. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Ashton-Berendzen, and his beloved Labradoodle, Marco. His family remembers him as a deeply involved and loving presence, proud, supportive, and endlessly kind.
Richard’s life was a quiet celebration of connection, joy in the small things, and steady love for those closest to him. He will forever be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
