Richard Austin Beene's Obituary
The world lost a good one on December 21, 2021. Richard Beene was the greatest man we’ve
ever known. He was a devout follower of Christ. He was a loving husband. He was a one of a
kind father. He was the perfect Grandfather and Great Grandfather.
He taught us to put God first, and trust in Him. He taught us to be respectful of everyone. He
taught us to listen first, then speak. He taught us to always give to anyone in need. He taught
us that the most important thing you can give is your time. Cherish that time with your parents,
your kids, your family and your friends.
Richard Beene was born on April 10, 1934, living 87 wonderful years. He was married to the
love of his life, Patsy Beene, for 65 of those years. After serving our country in the U.S. Navy
he worked for Dallas Power & Light for 40+ years. He was active in his church, Shiloh Terrace
Baptist Church and later Hideaway Lake Community Church. He also held a special place in
his heart for the Lakewood Kiwanis Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reagan and Gussie Beene, and grandson, Reagan
Austin Beene. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; his brother, Reagan (Sue); 3 children, Jeff
Beene (Britt), Angela Bearden (Gary) and Jason Beene (Meredith); 9 grandchildren and 6 great
grandchildren.
If we can be even half the Dad to our children as he was to his; If we can be half the husband as
he was to Patsy; If we can be even half the man he was - we will be proud, and we will be doing
alright.
He will be missed. We will see you again someday and keep playing your harmonica.
A service will be held on Saturday, January 15, at 11 am at Hideaway Lake Community Church,
in Hideaway, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s honor to support the
local projects he loved most at: Richard Beene Memorial Gift, Hideaway Lake Community
Church, 1115 Lake Cross Rd., Hideaway Lake, TX 75771.
