Richard Allen Bond's Obituary
Richard Allen, better known as Ricky, was born on January 7, 1953 in Waxahachie, Texas to James Allen Bond and Elizabeth Ann Burleson. He lost his battle with colon cancer on December 22, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. He managed his illness with strength and courage and fought hard till the very last breath. He did not fight alone. On his final day, he was surrounded by family and friends that adored and loved him dearly.
Ricky was Vice President of his family's business, Bond Equipment Co. and worked there for over 50 years with his father, brothers, various family members and respected staff. He lost his hearing as a child and was a respected and a well-known part of the deaf community. Despite his handicap, he made sure he was heard and lived life to the fullest.
Ricky was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. In his spare time, he loved spending time with his family, friends, and his cat, Bailey. He loved BBQing on his treasured smoker, watching his favorite sports teams, hunting, shooting with his friends at the gun club, and capitalizing on any opportunity to be in the water. So many words could be used to describe Ricky. He was caring, courageous, strong, the life of the party and enjoyed laughing with anyone that would laugh with him. His favorite saying aligns with his personality all too well. "So What" he would say, often combined with an innocent grin and sparkle in his eye. To say he was loved is an understatement.
Ricky was survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy Bond; his mother, Ann Bond and brothers, Gary and Andy Bond; his children Jenny Bond, Monty Duncan, and Michael Duncan; his grandchildren, Blake Bond, Taylor Duncan, Emily Duncan, and Hayley Duncan; his aunt, several nieces and nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
Ricky wore many hats...Dad, Son, Husband, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He will be remembered for so many things, mainly his humor and his big heart. If you knew Ricky, he was unforgettable. Not having the honor to know him simply means you missed out. There will absolutely never be another Ricky. He will be missed beyond words. In this moment, it is painful that he is gone, cherish your memories of him and let them live on.
The funeral services will be held at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Gabriel Garden.
