Richard Burdick's Obituary
Burdick, Richard passed away July 11, 2013 at age 87 after a period of declining health. He was a retired businessman who worked in the oil field supply business for many years. Richard loved his church and served there faithfully as a deacon, Sunday School leader, and numerous committee responsibilities. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in Austria, and Germany with the 65th infantry division. Richard received two bronze stars and served under General Patton a portion of that time. He returned to go to college at what is now Oklahoma State University studying the radio industry field. Richard would later marry the love of his life and raise three children. They moved several times but moved to Oklahoma at retirement, and returned to Texas to be closer to children and grandchildren a few years ago. Richard is survived by his daughter, Sheryl Mullins and husband Hal of Garland; son, Randy Burdick and wife Davina of Lakeland Florida; five granddaughters, and eight great grandchildren. They were his loves and he worked hard to make sure they had every opportunity for a better future. Richard is also survived by a multitude of friends and other family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn K Burdick; daughter, Susan Renee Forbes and granddaughter, Shari Lynn Forbes Dean. We would like to thank San Remo Community Care and Hospice Compasses for their kindness. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, July 11, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 15, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Garland.
