Richard Joseph Dean Sr.'s Obituary
Richard Joseph Dean, Sr., passed away on Thursday, February 27th, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on October 7th, 1937, in Clinton, Iowa, to Leland and Nellie Starbuck Dean.
Dick is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Dean of Athens, Texas, his only child Richard Joseph Dean, Jr. of Richardson, Texas, sisters Donna Wagner and Debbie Viets of California, brother and sister-in-law Mike and Pat Carter of Carrollton, Texas, stepdaughter Melinda Crow and husband Gary of Whitney, Texas, and step granddaughter Alyssa Crow of San Angelo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 56 years, Peggy C. Dean.
Dick served his country across the globe in the Air Force for 22 years, as a Senior Master Sergeant, decorated Viet Nam Veteran, and recipient of the Bronze Star as well as the Meritorious Service Medal.
Following a private service at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas on Friday, March 14th, the family will host a memorial on March 15th, in Athens, Texas at Windsor Estates Place, 1506 W. Corsicana Street, beginning at 1:00p.m. He will be deeply missed and remembered as a wonderful husband, loving father, and loyal friend.
