Richard Edwin “Dick” Davies, Sr, LtCol USAF (Ret)
Richard E. “Dick” Davies, Sr., 93, passed peacefully from this life in Southlake, Tx on September 15, 2025. Dick was dedicated to his faith, his family and his country.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 3, 1932, Dick was an Eagle Scout who attended the World Jamboree in France in 1947. He graduated from Minneapolis Central High School in 1950 and the University of Minnesota in 1954. He was commissioned as a USAF 2nd Lieutenant and entered active duty in March 1955. After graduating from pilot training in May 1956, he flew B-47s and C-133s followed by C-7s in Viet Nam. During his early years in the Air Force, he was also a member of the USAF Bobsled Team. His final assignment was as a Public Affairs Officer, at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia where he retired as a Lt Col and Command Pilot in March 1975.
He then became a Vice President for Bozell and Jacobs Advertising, followed by Vice President for Womack, Claypool and Griffin Advertising and later Manager of Advertising at Bell Helicopter Textron, retiring for good in December 1999.
Dick was a devoted Freemason for over 70 years. He was Past Master of Richardson Masonic Lodge 1214, a member of Knox-Corinthian 851, Eagle 41, a Charter Member of Tranquility Lodge 2000 and Templar 176 (St Louis Park, MN) Lodges; and District Deputy Grand Master in 2001. He was also a member of York Rite Bodies, Hella Shrine and was a 33° IGH in the Dallas Scottish Rite. Dick was also a dedicated volunteer at the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.
Dick is survived by son Richard E. Davies, Jr and his wife Linda Davies; daughter Mary Andrews and her husband Col Philip Andrews; grandchildren William E. Davies, Katharine Drummond (and her husband Jack), and Elizabeth Williams (and her husband Jordan); great-grandchildren James, Hannah and Callum. He is also survived by many wonderful cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Marilyn Jean “Lynn” (Dingman) Davies and his parents Vernon Edwin Davies and Muriel Susan (Tweed) Davies.
Funeral Services will be at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 421 Custer Road, Richardson, Tx, on Friday October 17, 2025, at 10:00am.
