Richard Dalmane Fariss' Obituary
Fariss, Richard of Dallas, TX passed away on January 21, 2013 after a long illness. He was born in Dallas on April 13, 1945. Richard graduated from W. W. Samuel High School and from the University of Texas at Arlington. He majored in biology and English. He taught ninth grade Physical Science at Lake Highlands Junior High School and retired after 30 years of service. He is survived by his two sisters: Vicki Newman and husband Jim, and Barbara Newman. He is survived by his three nephews, Kyle Newman, Bret Newman, and Blaine Newman, and his niece Jill Newman Richardson; five great-nephews and one great-niece. Finally he is survived by his life companion and partner of many years, Larry Colyar. Family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm, Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be 3:00 PM, Friday, January 25, 2013 at Restland Wildwood Chapel with Rev. Shelley Hamilton of the Cathedral of Hope UCC will preside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard’s favorite charity, the SPCA of Texas.
