Richard Fruzia's Obituary
Richard Terry Fruzia, 78, passed away June 10, 2021, with his wife and children by his side at the age of 78. He was born to Gerald and Fay Fruzia in Conroe, Texas. Terry enjoyed a full life serving his country in the Army for 24 ½ years, active and reserves, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He also worked for GTE for 25 years. Electronics was his passion. His other passion was fixing anything for anyone. He loved being able to rescue.
Terry’s father was a chaplain in the Air Force and preacher for the church of Christ so the family moved often. Besides many U.S. locations, the family lived in Panama and Morocco. Terry talked fondly of his time in those foreign countries. Part of his own service time included Vietnam and Desert Storm. Upon his return from Vietnam, he finished his teaching degree at Harding University. His first job after graduation was in Kouts, Indiana, teaching fifth and sixth grades in a team teaching setup. Then he joined GTE as an installer. Climbing poles in northern Indiana during the winter was a real adventure.
Terry and Karen married in 1966 in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his Wife, Karen; son, Tony Fruzia of Denton; daughter, Laura Farthing (Kevin) of Weeki Wachee, Florida; sister, Gerallyn Osborn of Amarillo, Texas; brother, Gerald Fruzia, Jr. (Zelda) of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Mark Fruzia of Orlando, Florida, Michael Farthing of Norfolk, Virginia, and Amanda Farthing of Portsmouth, Virginia.
Son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, Sergeant, Mr. Fixit. Above all, the driving force behind everything in his life was his Christian faith. Terry’s prayers had become more focused and personal during the last year. The family wants to acknowledge Medical City Plano 6th Floor Cardiac, ICU, Faith Presbyterian Hospice and Pro Vista Home Health. Karen especially is grateful for the prayers and cards from the church family at Waterview Church of Christ and many friends all over the world. Rest in peace now dear husband.
Dates for the service at DFW National Cemetery and a Celebration of Life are pending. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite charity.
