Richard Henry Groene's Obituary
Groene, Richard Henry Was born November 25, 1927 to Stanley and Leta Groene in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away April 2, 2014 at home in Garland, Texas. Richard was a WW II veteran serving in the US Navy. He then started his education at Purdue University in Indiana and received his Bachelors degree in 1951 and Masters Degree in 1952 in electrical engineering. Richard was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu Association, honorary fraternities for engineers. He married Mary Jane Perry in 1950 in Indianapolis. They moved to Dallas, TX where Richard went to work for LTV and then E-Systems in Greenville, TX (now L-3). He then started a second career at Parkland Hospital and retired in 1998. Richard was a faithful member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration where he enjoyed serving as an usher for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Groene; daughter, Barbara Booth (Danny) of Terrell, TX; daughter, Karen Trotter (Roy) of Ponte Vedra, Florida; son, Mark Groene of Frisco, TX; granddaughters, Devin Anne Trotter of Livingston, TX and Laura Guzman (Ramon); great-grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie and Nadia of Garland, TX and brother, Donald Groene (Jody) of Indianapolis, Indiana. Visitation will be at Restland Funeral Home on April 4, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Memorial mass will be at 4:00 PM on April, 5, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 14115 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration.
