Richard Fred Handley's Obituary
Richard Fred Handley was born October 24, 1936 in Lake Charles, LA. He left to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 20, 2014, surrounded by his loving wife, Mary, son Scott and caregiver and dear friend, Tosin. He graduated from Lake Charles High School and entered the US Naval Reserves where he served for eight years. On a trip back from Reserves duty he fell in love with Ft. Worth, TX, enrolling in TCU where he met the love of his life, Mary Karr, marrying her 57 years ago on August 31, 1957, graduating in June of 1959. They were very active in their church, Bent Tree Bible Fellowship mentoring many young couples. All who met him loved Richard and he left a lasting impact and legacy. Richard retired as a well-loved State Farm Agent after 47 years this May 31st. He is survived by Mary, his loving wife of 57 years, daughter Kari (Derek) and grandchildren Ali and Mackenzie Hall, daughter Kaye (Mike) and grandchildren Miriam and Jack Chatelle, and son Scott (and partner Robb Greenhoe), brother Douglas (Diana) Handley), sister-in-law Suzie Duckworth, and too many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins to list. Richard’s family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Richard’s life will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Bent Tree Bible Fellowship, 4141 International Pkwy, Carrollton, TX.
