Richard E. Hasty, 92, of Duncanville, Texas was called by God to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from He was the second of three sons born to Wilton and Florence Brixey Hasty, a blessing born on Christmas Day, 1925 in Dallas, Texas. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Hasty Jurlina (Michael), grandson Jacob Jurlina, granddaughter Sabrina Jurlina, niece Celia Hasty Carter (Mark), nephew Will Hasty (Jan), nephew Greg Hasty (Sue) and several great nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Jo Hasty, his brothers Herbert Hasty and Bill Hasty.He attended Sunset High School, graduating in 1944, and soon after was inducted into the Army. Serving with distinction in the German theater of combat, he earned two Bronze Star medals. After discharge from the Army, he attended SMU for 2 years after which he worked at Ling-Temco-Vought for 15 years. Later he established Hasty Floor Covering and enjoyed this work as an entrepreneur.Richard loved his family, friends, animals and learning new things. After he retired, he took courses in welding, baking, beer brewing, wine making and took piano lessons from his neighbor. For the last several years, he was an avid gardener and reader. Richard will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends and all who knew him.Visitation will be Friday evening, June 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.at Restland Funeral home.Funeral services will be Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
