Richard Moore Hawley's Obituary
A piece of our hearts was taken to heaven today as our father Richard Moore Hawley was received into God’s Kingdom. Richard was born May 16, 1930 at the family home on Cole Avenue in Dallas, Texas to Orrin Ernest and Maude Bennedette Hawley. Richard attended Ben Milam Elementary School and North Dallas High School. While a student at Ben Milam Elementary School, Richard met and became life friends with a beautiful young lady, Meredith Lawler. Their friendship grew and on May 19, 1951 they were married. Richard was a life long Episcopalian, and as an active member of The Church of the Incarnation Episcopal Church in Dallas, TX he served as an acolyte and made many friends in the Youth Group. Richard loved to share with his kids and grandkids all the fun times he had roaming around Cole Park and playing with his buddies in the nearby woods. Richard was a Captain in the Texas Army National Guard 49th armored division and enjoyed his time serving his country. Richard worked with his brother Dave Hawley at Hawley Brother Construction for a time after High School, and then began a long and successful career with AC & S Corporation, that allowed him opportunities in Dallas, Kansas City and St. Louis. He was an active member of St Michaels and all Angels Church in Kansas City, and very active in the Boy Scouts of America with his sons. He also became the proud dad of two daughters. During his time in St. Louis he was active at St Martin’s Episcopal Church and in St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. In 1978 Richard left AC & S and moved his family back to their wonderful home state of Texas where they have called Houston home for 36 years. Richard was very active at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Kingwood, Texas and Holy Trinity Episcopal School. Richard began his own successful business, Hawley and Associates, which he ran until he retired just a few years ago. Richard enjoyed dancing, golfing, spending time with his family, and traveling with Meredith. Most of all he enjoyed every minute of life, and made the most of every second. Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years Meredith Lawler, his children Richard Kent Hawley and wife Laura of Kingwood, Texas, Jeffery Blake Hawley of Kilgore, Texas, Suzanne Elizabeth Hedgepath and husband Tom of McKinney, Texas and Deanne Kathleen Holmes of Humble,Texas, grandchildren Jessalyn Marie Ball, Joshua Stewart Hawley, Richard Matthew Hawley, Thomas Allen Hedgepath, III, Curtis Whitman Hedgepath, Kevin Scott Holmes, and Kathleen Rose Holmes, great grandchildren Mason, Hayden, Peyton, Keaton and Madgalyn Ball and Kaleb and Josephine Hawley, his brother David Hawley and wife Dona of Dallas, Texas, sister-In Law Barbara Lawler Gilbert and husband Bill Gilbert of Dallas, Texas as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
