Richard Clark Hunter's Obituary
Richard Clark Hunter was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on July 6, 1956 to his dear parents Richard Edmund Hunter and Edith Earline Hunter. He grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma with his older sisters, Catherine (Cathy) and Margaret (whom he affectionately called Meg).
From his early years, it was determined that he was developmentally challenged, but that didn’t stop him from being an instrument of the Lord. Rick has always loved the Lord. He would pray with people, attend Bible studies, attend church faithfully every Sunday, and serve any way that he could. Rick went on many mission trips. He also enjoyed serving in the VBS programs at church. Rick always had a big study Bible on hand. Many people rush from one thing to another in their busy lives, but Rick was so good at asking for a minute to pray and read scripture with you. It made you stop and realize what is really important in life. Rick also gave much glory to God in his prayers, which made his prayers rich and meaningful.
For over 20 years Rick was a member of Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland, Texas. He loved being a part of this body of believers. The family would like to say thank you to all of you at Saturn Road who were so kind to him through the years.
The Lord wasn’t his only passion. Because he spent many of his early years in Oklahoma, he loved Oklahoma State University. He got as much apparel as he could to represent his favorite team. His Sunday best was a pair of blue jeans and an OSU polo. His favorite sports were basketball and football, and he watched them faithfully. He would never miss March Madness!
Weight-lifting was another favorite past time for him. He loved a good bench press and a set of weights. He was quite strong when he was younger.
Going out to eat was another favorite for Rick. He would take every opportunity he had to go out to eat with family and friends. If you knew Rick, you know how he loved his Pepsi, tea, and cookies through the years.
Rick was always a hard worker. He worked at Walmart in Brownwood, TX for 15 years. He worked hard to become cashier and kept the position until he moved away. He was loved by all, and one year, he received the cashier of the year award.
Rick was also very generous. Even though he never had much money to give, he loved to give it away to bless people.
Although we are sad he is gone, Rick is now with his Lord, whom he served and loved so faithfully.
It must have been an amazing family reunion in heaven for Rick to see his parents, Meg (who passed away in December of 2020), and Cathy (who passed away one week prior to Rick’s passing). Rick is survived by his brother-in-law, Dave, who was his sole caretaker for the past four years. Dave faithfully kept his promise to his beloved wife to take care of Rick. His nieces and nephew, and great nieces and great nephews survive him. From his sister Cathy: Tiffany (Ryan) and their children Caitlynn and Cayden; Sarah (Danny) and their children Kristina and Drew. From his sister Meg (Dave): Hannah, Emily (J.B.) and their children James, Laura, and Nathaniel; David (Shelby) and their daughter Noel. His step-mother, Mary, also survives him.
He will be interred next to his mother and father in Early, Texas at a later date.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
