Richard "Rick" Karl Floeck's Obituary
Richard Karl “Rick” Floeck, Age 55 of Dallas, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on October 28, 2010 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Rick was born to Ida Inez Laird and Clifford Thomas Floeck, Jr. in Amarillo, Texas on June 3, 1955. He grew up in Abilene, Texas where he was an active member of First Baptist Church. After graduating from Abilene Cooper High School in 1973, Rick attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corp of Cadets, Squadron 5. Rick served as both the Sergeant Major and Commander of 2nd Group Staff his junior and senior years, respectively. He was also a Ross Volunteer, an honorary guard of the Corp of Cadets. After graduating in 1977 with a degree in Accounting, he continued his studies at the University of Texas in Austin where he received his MBA in Finance in 1979. Rick began his career at Ernst & Whinney where he met his wife Patricia Prather “Patty” Floeck. He served as Controller of Beazer USA, a construction materials company and Pronet, Inc. in the telecommunications industry. In 1998 he was appointed Vice President of Finance and Administration for Briggs Weaver, a logistics and supply chain business. His diverse background prepared him for his last role as Vice President, Finance and Administration for Unity Hunt, Inc., a diverse, family-owned holding company. Rick was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church as well as numerous professional and business organizations. Rick was an avid hunter and enjoyed traveling the world with his family. He took great delight in cheering his son and teammates through the many years of soccer at Trinity University contrasting these events with dance and pageants as the proud father of his daughter. The family gathered annually in New Orleans in celebration of Mardi Gras where they were active members of the community galas and festivities. Rick is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Patricia Prather Floeck, son, Patrick Michael Floeck, both of Dallas, Tx., and daughter Elizabeth Erin Floeck Menichini and son-in-law Alexander Joseph Menichini of Pacific Palisades, California. In addition, he is survived by his mother Inez Floeck and sister Kristy West of Abilene, Texas. His presence will be greatly missed by Patty’s parents Shirley and Clarkson Moseley of New Orleans, Louisiana, and her family, Michael Prather and Charlotte Morris of New Orleans, LA, Brent and Lisa Prather of Carrollton, Tx. and Nard Moseley of Dallas, Tx, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford T. Floeck, Jr. and brother, Clifford T. Floeck, II. The family will receive visitors at Restland Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6 – 8 pm. For those unable to attend Sunday’s visitation, the family will also be available one hour preceding the funeral service which will be held at 10:00am Monday, November 1 at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas, TX, with interment following at Restland Memorial Park. Friends and family are invited to a reception at Restland Funeral Home immediately following interment. Pallbearers will be family and long-time friends, Michael Prather, Brent Prather, Nard Moseley, Alexander Meriichini, Rick Jones and John Foster of Houston, TX, Robert Harper of Carrollton, TX, and Brian Miller from Granbury, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Corps of Cadets Enrichment Fund, clo Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George Bush Dr., College Station, TX 77840-2811.
