May you be comforted by the lyrics of an old Altar Call Hymn, Come Ye Disconsolate. We affirm that "Earth hath no sorrow that Heaven cannot cure."
We continue to lift you in prayer.

Our condolences and prayers for Mavis and sons and Dana. We will miss him. We were cousins, but somehow, growing up we were like brother and sister. We always looked forward to his visits to Fort Valley, especially FVSU Homecoming for early morning coffee at our house.
Richard was a wonderfully thoughtful and caring person. Now in the presence of God and the ancestors, blessings as you Rest In Peace and love.
Mavis, May your heart be blessed with the beautiful memories. God give you strength.
Mavis,
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,

Richard "Dick" Knight will always be remembered by me and many others as the role model of what a great student ought to be. He was serious enough to always maintain high academic standards and grades....but also "normal" enough to be endeared and well thought of by all who knew him. NOBODY was surprised that he got invited to study political science at Yale. He was just that kind of guy. He could easily hold his own with the smartest person in the room...and yet come off as being the coolest guy at the table when having a casual beer with the guys. Yep...pretty much an ideal guy...the one you'd like your son to grow up to be like.
He will be sourly missed by all who knew him. Yes....undoubtedly, he had much more to give. What a way to be remembered! Someone who had accomplished MUCH...but who was on a trajectory where the world knew he would also go much, much higher.
Sleep well my dear friend. The great years we enjoyed at FVSC will always be remembered/cherished. The casual walks across campus, the very serious debates we had on politics, the gut busting jokes we shared.
It is unfortunate that our distant geographies did not allow us to get to know each others families better. However, I feel like I know them via our many conversations.
To Mavis and the family, please know that I/we will remember you all in a very positive light for all the support and love you guys provided for our dear colleague and friend.....for continuously being the wind beneath is wings. God bless!

Dear Mavis and family:
My deepest condolences to you as you grieve the home going for your husband and father and my friend. Richard will forever be remembered by me and my family as he has been a legend about whom we have had many conversations and lessons learned. He consistently showed courage without flinching and he was always so eager to share and to teach - even those who were not ready to learn and grow. I appreciate how Richard always spoke so lovingly of you and your sons. He modeled the way for me. I thank God for Richard's influence in my life - he will be missed. I pray with the knowledge that my friend is at rest with our Master and our Lord. Mavis, please take care, my friend.
