Richard Daniel Melear's Obituary
MELEAR, RICHARD (DAN), age 82, of Dallas was born September 7, 1924 and passed away December 10, 2006. Survived by wife of 60 years, Betty Melear; and his sons, Robert Melear and his wife, Niki, of Richardson, TX, Charles Melear and his wife, Jacque of Fort Collins, CO, Thomas Melear of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Brent Wright, Erika and Katrina Melear; step grandchildren, Traci Mastracchio, Danni Hesser; step great grandchildren, Kimanz, Marley, and Avi Hesser; brother-in-law, Pierre Schiebel; and cousins, Martha Hunt and Julia Echber. Dan’s parents were Dick and Mary Dee Shearon Melear of Trinidad, TX. Dan graduated from Trinidad High School, attended Texas A&M for 1 year before joining the Navy where he served on the USS Pennsylvania during WWII. After the war he graduated from A&M with an EE degree. He worked for Otis Elevator Company for 38 years. Dan was a member of the Casa View Methodist Church, Otis Retiree Club, and the Stone Stepper Square and Round Dance Club. Visitation is from 6-8 PM Wednesday, December 13th at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, December 14th at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 560089, Dallas, TX 75356-0089 or the charity of your choice.
