Richard Wayne Peterson's Obituary
PETERSON, RICHARD WAYNE Richard, the last of five children born to Martin and Martha E. (Isler) Peterson in Sherburne, MN. After graduating from Sherburne High School in 1950 he enlisted in the US Air Force serving a 20-year career as a propeller mechanic and computer programmer. While stationed in Germany, he married the love of his life Lia in Munich on Sep 7, 1955. After retiring from the Air Force, the family settled in Garland, TX where Richard worked as a COBOL programmer in the banking industry and was a member of the Darwin Deeson team at Mercantile Bank, which brought the first ATMs to Texas. In addition to Lia, he is survived by their two children, Martin and Christal, and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to being a soldier and patriot, Richard will be especially remembered for his warmth and compassion for others and for always standing up for what he thought was right. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
