Richard Travis Slusher's Obituary
SLUSHER, RICHARD TRAVIS born on April 3,1943, and went home to be with our Lord on October 6, 2012, after a six week battle in Baylor Heart Hospital – Plano. He grew up in Paris, Oak Cliff and Mesquite, TX. and graduated with honors from the University of TX. in Arlington. Preceded in death by his father, Travis Fosh Slusher and mother, Martye Lorene Slusher. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Slusher; brother, Byron Slusher; step-mother, Juanita Slusher; children, Lori Meyers, Kris Schuster, Phil Rochester, Pam Smith, Amanda & Allen Hankins, and Meagan Marley; as well as 5 granddaughters, Rachel Rochester, Kaci Rochester, Karli Meyers, Samantha Smith, Brandi Smith; and 2 great-granddaughters, Skylar and Zoe Rochester. Richard was a wonderful, compassionate, and giving man who loved his family and friends very much! He enjoyed sports, golf, reading and spending time with his family, including his two daschunds, Rudy and Bruno. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 12:00 PM in Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations for Heart & Vascular Research.
