Richard Alan Terrill's Obituary
Richard Alan Terrill of Dallas, TX, went home to Glory on June 23, 2024, at the age of 83. Richard was larger than life and he lived that way to the very end. He had just passed the state insurance exam in May and was working toward getting his insurance broker’s license. He was in good health overall and his passing was sudden and unexpected.
Richard grew up in South Dallas with his two sisters and widowed mother. He was the first of his family to earn a college degree, which he did from the University of North Texas. Richard always said that it is a lucky man who can count his friends on one hand, but he had many, many more than that. He was generous to a fault, helping others even when he himself didn’t have a lot to give. He spent many days in his latter years visiting his friends who were ailing, praying for them and praising God for his own good health and blessings. No one ever had a better friend than Richard Terrill.
Richard is loved and remembered by his son, Les, and Les’s wife Monica; daughter Julie and husband Dan; grandchildren Zoe, Olivia, Noah, Tatum, and Luke; and great-grandson Mateo. He is also survived by two former wives, Linda Knox and JoAnn Terrill; he always said he didn’t understand how a guy like him could have been lucky enough to marry two such amazing women. He is also sorely missed by really great friends and his little adopted dog, Baby.
Richard was a force of nature who lived a colorful life. Anyone who knew him probably has a wild tale or two to tell. His children will always remember his crazy antics and funny (but apt) Richard-Terrillisms, but mostly they recall with praise and gratitude how closely he walked with the Lord in his later years. He thanked Jesus daily for His divine provision, and for his family and friends, praying over them every day. If Richard Terrill loved you, he loved you hard, and you knew it.
The world feels smaller without him in it.
