I have special memories of Rick speaking for the Sunday evening ministry New World UMC has with a nearby retirement complex. He was one of the residents favorites! He not only shared his love for the Lord, but, for the residents bringing them small gifts at Christmas,Easter & whenever the spirit moved him. He had such a gentile,thoughtful,generous & caring spirit. He was a good friend in ministry & a joy to be around. He will be greatly missed by so many.
I worked with Rick for a short time, but in that short time he made a big impact on me. He was always sharing candy and he prepared a huge feast at the end of the year for the holiday using his own money; which just magnified his gift of giving. I didn't know that Rick was in the music ministry at church, but I can see that now because he would be humming, and "do-doing" a tune coming and going down through the halls. Rick had a great spirit and will definitely be missed, but I must say he is now in the company of the Best of the Best. Shanetta Pledger
I worked (and played!) with Rick on a daily basis for several years. We made a good team. He always lifted up my spirits with his jokes and stories. My wife, Lisa, always enjoyed seeing Rick when she came to work to visit me. He had a big heart and was always giving. Rick had a lot of friends at work and some have come to me repeatedly to ask how Rick was doing. In fact, one person just walked up to me and told me she would miss ?Crazy Little Ricky?, talking about his making them laugh. His leaving work left me with boring days and his passing has left a hole in my heart. I know by his statements and by his actions that he put family first. Rick always lifted up Jesus, sometimes in subtle ways, like when he passed out the small stuffed animals with a praise message on them. I know that he is with Jesus now and that we have comfort in knowing that we will see him again someday. Thanks for everything, Rick. Lucky
The ever present periodic smell of bacon permeating the building hall way. Rib eyes from Costco every once in while. Scrambled eggs cooked in the microwave in the mornings. Hash browns grilling on the skillet. Your generous smile and greeting whenever we bump into each other at work. All these little things we'll never experience again in the same way, but are we ever grateful to have crossed paths with such a wonderful person. Whenever the sound or scent of cooking emanated from the company kitchen, we could be assured it was you. That kitchen will forever be silent now. Thank you so much for sharing your kindness, food, thoughts, happiness, and generosity with those around you. LT
I too worked with Rick. He was my cube neighbor and I truly miss him. He always kept me smiling. I remember he'd gone on a cruise and brought me back a key chain or a pen. Little things like that show how much of a caring person he was and don't get me started on the candy, or homemade ice cream that he always shared… I remember when my dad had a stroke and my mom was diagnosed with dementia, Rick asked if he could pray for them at his church…I will never forget that kind gesture. I still have a shot glass from Cozumel, a keychain from Dominican Republic, and multiple little stuffed animals on my desk from my buddy that will serve as my reminder of Rick.
I also worked with Rick for several years. He was always the one person at work that you could count on for a kind word or a laugh. When you were having a bad day or just needed someone to listen he was always there. I will never forget the smell of bacon cooking in the morning that almost cause a riot with people thinking free breakfast in the kitchen. Him wearing his hat and leather jacket while dragging a broken power supply down the hall by the cord calling it his new ?pet?. That horrid bacon flavored soda that tasted nothing like bacon. The war of the funny sayings/pictures that we had on our cube walls. Everyone would always make a detour down our row of cubes to see if anything new was up and to get a laugh. Just like others, I have several trinkets and stuffed animals and keep them on my desk as they make me smile when I am having a rotten day. I will never forget our last conversation a couple of weeks ago and how upbeat and excited he was for the next phase of his career. I was blessed to know him and have him in my life. He will be truly missed!!! Emily
