Rilla Leah Cathey's Obituary
Rilla L. Cathey, 91, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2010. She was born on December 27, 1918 in Hunt County, Texas and graduated from Terrell High School in Terrell. Since 1950, she was a resident of Garland and was an employee of Kraft Foods until she was forced into early retirement by illness. On her recovery, she worked devotedly at the House of 1776, exercising her passion for matching beautiful china and silver with grateful users. All her life, Mrs. Cathey was an active member of the Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for several years. She was passionate about her faith and her gardening. She was married to the late A.R. Cathey for 30 years. She is survived by her son, Michael, his partner Patricia Devitt, her grandsons, Michael, Jr., and Miles, a great granddaughter, Madeline; and two brothers, James Pitts of Garland and Charles Pitts of Crocker, Missouri. She had special affection for Iris Hatfield, who attended her like a daughter. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 26, at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas. There will be a graveside service preceding interment at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 26, at Memoryland Memorial Cemetery at 808 W Jack Finney Blvd. in Greenville, Texas.
