Rita Marie Medlin's Obituary
On Monday, January 27th, Rita Medlin woke up in Heaven. She was born Rita Marie Williams, on July 31, 1953 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma and was married to Larry Medlin on August 21st, 1971. Rita and Larry had 4 children and eventually settled in Richardson, Texas. Rita was a banker for more than 45 years. She sang in the choir at the Heights Baptist Church and was a committee chair and complex director for the Dallas Cup soccer tournament every year since 1987.
Rita loved Jesus, Russell Stover Chocolates, and watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel. Not necessarily in that order. She loved gathering with her immediate family every week and with her extended family during the holidays. She loved reconnecting with old friends on Facebook and having “girl’s weekends” with her best friends she’d had since high school. She loved drinking Pepsi and watching “The Sound of Music.” But her favorite activity was spending time with her wonderful grandchildren.
Rita loved much, and was loved by many. Rita’s husband, Larry, has been waiting for her in Heaven since 2009. No doubt he met her at the pearly gates when she got there. Rita will be deeply missed by her sister, by her 4 children and their spouses, by her 11 grandchildren, and by her many other family members and friends. And though she is deeply missed, we know that we will see her again…
Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM in the Wildwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery.
