Rita Gail Rahn's Obituary
Rita Gail (Wukasch) Rahn, also known as “Aunt Dedo”, was born on September 8, 1955, at St. Mary’s Hospital to Herbert and Gladys Wukasch in Port Arthur, Texas. She departed this life on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the age of 70 years.
Rita was baptized on October 2,1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Pastor Victor Buvinghausen in Port Arthur, Texas. She confirmed her faith in Jesus Christ on April 7, 1968, with Pastor Albert Jesse at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas. Her Confirmation Verse was “Be thou Faithful unto death and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 2:10
Rita was married and was blessed with a son, Christopher Grimes and daughter-in-law, Ginger. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin. Rita was a graduate of Reagan High School in Austin, Texas.
She worked for 46 years in customer service and accounting for moving and storage companies in Houston, Dallas and Austin. She oversaw inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments. For 16 years she worked for Kohl’s Clothing Store in customer service and was also employed by Little Tesoros, Therapy Services, in Austin. She loved the Little Tesoros Christmas parties and made everyone laugh.
Rita never met a stranger, remembered everyone’s name and they never forgot her!
She was a kind and generous person to everyone. She only bought Tom’s Shoes because every pair that was bought a pair was donated to someone without shoes. And all who knew her knew that she loved flamingos and “Precious Moments.” Several of her favorite things while at Redeemer were volunteering in the Redeemer Gift Shop and working with the Children’s Ministry serving popcorn at their special events. She was, also, an Ambassador at The Reserve where she lived in Dallas, welcoming all the new residents and making them feel comfortable in their new space.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Myrna Wukasch. Rita is survived by her son, Chris Grimes and his wife Ginger, her sister Sandy Schroder and her husband, David, her brother Herbert Wukasch Jr. and many family and cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society in honor of Rita Rahn.
