Robert Samuel Balch's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Samuel Balch, 86, left us on April 3, 2016 with his wife and family members by his side in Dallas, TX. Bob was born August 11, 1929 in Ranger, Texas to Lela and Robert Balch. He graduated from Ranger High School and moved to Abilene to attend college. At Hardin-Simmons University he played football and earned a Business degree. His first job out of college took him to the Midland-Odessa area where he met and married Ann Jenkins. Shortly after marrying they moved to eastern New Mexico, finally calling Tucumcari home for over 50 years. Bob owned and operated several businesses, including oil and gasoline marketing and trucking. He was a member of Center Street United Methodist Church, Tucumcari, NM and sang in the choir. His interests included hunting, fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lela and Robert S. Balch; brother, Willard Balch; and sister, Mildred Balch. Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Balch; two sons and their spouses, Scott and Lynda Balch of Dallas, TX; and Jeff and Toni Balch of Lewisville, TX; a daughter and her husband, Cindy and Dave Boyd of Palm Harbor, FL ; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2016 at 11:00am at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, Dallas TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center Street United Methodist Church, 406 E. Center Street, Tucumcari, NM 88401 or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center Street United Methodist Church and Choir, 406 E. Center Street, Tucumcari, NM 88401, or the Charity of your choice.
