Rob, thank you so much for your email letting me know of your dad's passing. Your dad was my teacher at Samuell and he and Pat also lived across the street from my sister, Rogann, on Foxwood. I recall that you and Cindy played with Vivian and Kevin; I believe your families even took some vacations together. I remember that your dad was pretty strict, but always a very good and nice teacher with a good sense of humor. I reached out to he and Pat several years and they came to one of our class breakfasts at the Circle Grill. Both my husband and I have doctor's appointments on June 1st and this being the weekend, it is too late to change; however, our thoughts and prayers will be with your family.
I graduated in the Class of 1961.

Sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I had contacted with Bob for about 2+ years, when he was selling parts of his stamp collection. We had several long emails discussing our families. I remember he was proud of a grandson that was going into the military. Also, he sent photos of his home--I forget if it was the old house or the new residence--it was probably the old house which was beautiful.
Now Bob and Pat can reconnect in Heaven.

I remember coming to WW Samuel, when I became an Interpreter for the Deaf. I loved the school and our Deaf Education program. All the teenagers 😂 enjoyed being in a "normal" school. Because of the insites to have such a intovated new program our kids prospered. I am grateful to have worked at this school and now am able to thank man who was a amazing administrator.

I have a very special memory as I’m gonna call him principal Stokes. I was trying to graduate early in 1981 and I worked so hard to get those credits. I needed to graduate six months early and the coach at that time I won’t name names, but I wasn’t crazy about him. He failed me in gym that failure was gonna cost me graduating early, so I told mom so mom and I both we went to principal Stokes and I told him what happened and what I was trying to do of course all my other classes were great. He looked at me and with that soft, beautiful voice he had he says how do you fail gym said I’m not sure, sir. He asked were you there? Did you go? I said yes sir. I was there every day but I’m I’m very soft-spoken so maybe he didn’t hear me when I would say here he said give me a day and come back and see me tomorrow well he gave me a hug shook mom‘s hand and we left so I went back to him the next day and he smiled and he said well will a C do? I said if it gets me out early it will and he said then you’ve got your C and I said thank you so much and I got to graduate six months early, but he also let me come back every day for lunch to be with my friends. I got to come back come back for the pep assemblies and it was really great and I could not have asked for a better principal a better man what a friend what a great man what a beautiful heart of gold that he had he will always be loved and he will always be missed by all of us that got to know him to the family You have my love and my prayers, and I wish I could’ve seen him one more time but I know now he’s our principal in heaven and our angel and he’s still watching over all of us. I love you principal Stokes. I will never forget you have a beautiful journey in heaven
