Robert Lawrence "Bob" Mason's Obituary
Mason, Bob of Dallas, died on May 21, one day shy of his 92nd birthday. Bob was born in Alleman, Iowa in 1921 to Thor and Inger Mason, the youngest of four siblings. His wife, Florence Mason, precedes him in death by 2 1/2 years. He is survived by his two sons, David (62) of Carrollton, and Chuck (53) of Los Angeles. He served his country in the Coast Guard during World War II as flight engineer and crew chief. After the war he utilized the Rehabilitation Bill to earn a degree from Drake University (Des Moines) in marketing. Bob’s careers commenced in Des Moines (Burroughs Adding Machines), took him to Sacramento, Cedar Rapids (LeFebure banking equipment), and Dallas. He retired as regional manager in 1982. Then commenced his career in volunteer work and donations that occupied him and his wife Florence for the next 25 years. Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, RHD Memorial Hospital, Salvation Army, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, and various senior centers in North Dallas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on June 8, 2013 at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church – 12411 Templeton Trail Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
