Robert Freland Cason's Obituary
Robert Freland Cason, aged 92, went to be with our heavenly father on June 21st, 2024 in Garland, Texas. He was born on October 13th, 1931, to Lonnie and Golda Margaret Cason.
Robert graduated from North Dallas High School in 1950. President of his Junior class at North Dallas High School. He joined the Navy Reserves at the Naval Air Station Dallas on November 7th, 1953 as a naval munitions specialist. He was discharged on November 26th, 1957. During his time with the Navy Reserves, Robert worked as a linotype operator at The Wall Street Journal where he met his wife, Nancy Ann Hallman. It was love at first sight and they were married the following year on March 6th, 1952. Bob and Nancy welcomed their daughter Sheryl Ann Cason on April 4th, 1955 and their son David Gregory Cason on February 6th, 1957. They lived in Garland, TX where Bob worked as a firefighter for 34 years with the Garland Fire Department before retiring in 1997.
Robert was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a member at Believers Chapel in Dallas, TX. In the spring of 1967, Bob was saved by the sovereign grace of God without merit or work. Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 4:12, John 15:16.
Robert started playing the piano at an early age and was quite an accomplished artist playing with much emotion. He was also an excellent woodworker and had his own shop. He also enjoyed restoring his 1963 Chevy Stepside with his son and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by his loving and faithful wife of almost 73 years, Nancy Cason, and his parents; Lonnie and Golda Margaret Cason.
Robert is survived by his son, David Cason, daughter, Sheryl Cason, grandchildren; Joanna Garcia, Stephen McDowell, James McDowell, Kathleen McDowell, Samuel Cason, and Timothy Cason. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal service is scheduled for June 26th, 2024 at 9:00AM at Restland Memorial Park in the Garden of Floral Hill.
