Robert "Chris" Christopher Hourihan's Obituary
Robert Christopher Hourihan, 56, died at 9:36am on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from a sudden heart attack at his home in Mesquite, TX. Chris was born May 29, 1959 in Phoenix, Arizona. He moved to Dallas, TX at the age of 7 and has lived in the area ever since. He met the love of his life, Christy, at the age of 20. They were married one year later, in 1981, and were happily married for 33 years. Their marriage was an inspiration to all and their devotion and love for each other evident every day. He worked as an auto mechanic for 30 years, 28 of them at Mendenhall Automotive. He was an all-around handyman and could fix just about anything. He was generous with his time and talents, and helped others every chance he was given. He loved country music, corny jokes, coaching softball, fishing at Lake Texoma, and spending time with his friends and family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Christy, only child Heather and her husband David Becker, and light of his life, grandson, Benjamin Becker. He is also survived by his mother, Barbara Drane; father, Robert Hourihan; brothers Jack Hourihan, Billy Campbell and his wife Janie, Tom Campbell and his wife Pat, and Michael Drane and his wife Kelly; sisters Mary Ann and her husband Tom O’Mara, Cecelia and her husband Brent Neer, Katie Campbell, Connie and her husband Kenny Groat; and numerous nieces, nephews, and Godchildren who he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Kitty Hourihan; brother, Patrick Hourihan; and sisters Christine Campbell and Lee Pruitt. Chris was loved immensely and will be dearly missed by all. Memorial Service will take place at 12:30 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
