Robert Edward "Ed" Clark's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Edward "Ed" Clark at age 86 on June 13, 2024 in the presence of loved ones at Methodist Hospital in Richardson, TX.
Robert Edward "Ed" Clark was born on January 7, 1938, at Methodist Hospital Dallas to mother Catherine Waldon Marable and father Milburn Edward Clark. Along with his younger brother, John, they lived together as a family in Oklahoma. Ed attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman before joining the Army. Ed had a long career and thrived in the insurance business as a CLU and Sales trainer.
Ed married his sweetheart Ophelia Anne Smitherman on May 24th, 1958. They began their family in Oklahoma City and welcomed two children, Cynthia Anne and Mark Edward. They moved to Houston, TX and then in 1973 they settled in their forever home on Berkner Drive in Richardson, TX.
Ed spent the final golden years of his life at Ariel Point in Sachse, TX where he made many friends. Ed always got his 10,000 steps in (at least) and would not miss watching a Dallas sporting event - Go Cowboys! He always saw the positive in any and every situation.
He is survived by his son Mark and wife Rachael, granddaughters Chelsea and Katie Clark. Granddaughter Carissa Carlley. Step grandson Robert and wife Kelly Sheriff, step granddaughters Malin and husband Scott Maurice, Michele Sheriff, and Christine Nordberg. Ed and Ophelia enjoyed 56 years, 8 months, and 4 days together in marriage. He now joins Ophelia, the love of his life, their daughter Cindy and her husband Michael, and his brother John in eternal peace.
