Robert B. Clayton's Obituary
Robert Bush Clayton, 80, of Dallas, TX, ended a long courageous battle with cancer on Friday, July 17, 2009. He was born Oct. 28, 1928 in Sidney, Ohio. Family moved to Texas in 1936. Survived by his loving wife, Betty N. Clayton, son Robert Carl Clayton and wife Jackie, grandson Robert Alan Clayton, great grandson Robert Jacob Clayton, sister in law Lill Clayton, nephew and nieces. Graduated from Highland Park High School and from SMU with a BBA degree. Member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and President of Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity while at SMU. Received Masters Degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas while serving 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. Returned to Dallas in 1955 to start a 26 year career with Stuart Pharmaceuticals, now known as AstraZeneca. Was District Manager for 20 years. After retirement from AstraZeneca, he spent 3 years as a diamond consultant and 7 years with two Coffee Services in Dallas. Retired in 1991 to devote time to volunteer services. Member of Incarnation Episcopal Church and Captain of Usher Committees. Joined Trinity Episcopal Church in 1992. Joined U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1977. Served as Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 10-4, Division 10 Captain, and rose to the rank of Rear Commodore Central in the Eighth Coastal Region. Served as Conference Coordinator for 3 District 8 conferences. Held many Flotilla and Division Staff Offices during his tenure with the Auxiliary. Received the Administrative Award of Merit twice. Loved boating on Lake Texoma and doing many Courtesy Marine Examinations on boats each year to help promote boating safety. Also loved golf and bridge. Many thanks to Hospice and his caregivers at Abell Companions. He will be buried at Restland Cemetary. A service will be held in Wildwood Chapel on July 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
