Robert Traw Cooper's Obituary
Born July 30, 1920, the youngest of six siblings, and passed away February 14, 2009, after suffering a stroke. He was a lifelong resident of Dallas, Texas, graduating in 1938 from Woodrow Wilson. Bob was a proud Texas A & M Aggie and veteran of World War II serving as a 1st Lt. in the 466th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion assigned to the 17th Airborn Division. After he returned from WWII, he was unable to return to A & M and received his degree in mechanical engineering from SMU. Bob spent his professional career designing rock bits. He was a strong, loving friend and family man who believed in doing everything himself. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Leela B. Cooper, his daughters, Pamela R. Cooper and Tracy D. Cooper as well as a wonderful group of nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nephews and nieces. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to The Cathedral Church of St. Matthew, 5100 Ross Ave., Dallas, Texas 75206. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm on February 17, 2009 and the family will be present from 5-8 pm at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Restland Wildwood Chapel at 10 am on February 18, 2009.
