Mr. Robert Gillespie Dix's Obituary
Robert (Bobby) Gillespie Dix was born October 27, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to parents Robert and Eva Dix. Bobby grew up in the Presbyterian faith and served the United States as a Marine during the Vietnam war. He married Paulette Gibbons and had two beautiful children, Robert (Robby) Paul and Nancy Anne. Paulette died in a tragic car accident in 1975.
Shortly after he met Billie Faye Pruitt Maddran and started a new blended family. Adding to this family was a beautiful daughter Paige Michelle (from Billie’s previous marriage) and soon came a new blessing when their youngest son, Clay Curtis was added to the mix. It was truly a “Yours, Mine and Ours” situation. Unfortunately the marriage didn’t last but the children’s bonds did.
Bobby found his soulmate in 1997, Mary Lou Kasten. Mary Lou traveled the US with Robert and became his right hand lady on his job sites. His devotion and love for her was so strong that he spent the last three years being her sole caretaker as she struggled with Dementia before passing away in October of 2022.Shortly after MaryLou passed, Bobby took his bike out for a much needed, long overdue ride. We know the wind therapy had to feel so good.
Bobby is survived by children, Clay, Nancy and Paige; Mason, Curtis, Angel, Celestial, Sevan and Brendan, Jesse and Will; and great-grandchild, Emmalynn. He is preceded in death by son, Robby and great-grandchild, Esme Amnati.
Bobby worked as a Superintendent and built brick-and-mortar retail stores and restaurants from the ground up.
If anyone knew Bobby, his biggest accomplishment is seeing that his job sites were turned in a minimum of 30 days early.
Bobby loved being on his Honda Goldwing. His best friend David and he would take off on Road Trips all over the US. One of the best memories he had was riding to the Vietnam Wall with 3000 other bikers.
