Robert Lavern Doumecq Sr.'s Obituary
Robert L. Doumecq, Sr., age 89, of Garland, Texas, passed away on October 26, 2024. He was born in Cottonwood, Idaho and raised by parents Virgil and Letha Doumecq. After graduating from high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably as a member of SAC and CMAC amongst other commands.
On July 12, 1953, Robert married his high school sweetheart, Donna Lee King. Their union was blessed with 5 children: Robert L. Doumecq, Jr. (Brenda), who preceded his father in death; Teresa R. Perry (William); Judith M. King (Terry); Donald R. Doumecq (Stephanie); Jon S. Doumecq.
Robert was also preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Doumecq.
After his retirement from the military, Robert co-owned an alarm company for several years. He was an active member of many organizations over the years that included being a member of the Masons, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Cooties.
In his spare time, Robert also enjoyed woodworking and carving, making and selling custom wood turned pens.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Donna, his children, his 5 grandchildren and 10 great grand-children.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held on October 31, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Restland Funeral Home Wildwood Chapel, with public visitation one hour prior at 9:30 AM.
