I am deeply saddened over the loss of my dear friend, Bob Blair. I last saw him Saturday afternoon for about 3 hours but actually spoke with him for no more than 15 minutes as he was in and out of consciousness from the morphine for his back pain. I had planned to see him Sunday afternoon. When I called his daughter around noon, she wept as she told me they lost him mere minutes earlier. Bob so reminded me of my dad. When his daughter informed me of his passing, she told me he loved me as a son. I told her I loved him as a father. And even though we never spoke those words to each other, I am certain we both understood it to be so. Bob and I met 9 years ago via ham radio. As I was completing a conversation with another ham operator from Germany, Bob?s morse code signal nearly blew the headphones off my ears as he lived just a few miles from me. I visited Bob occasionally for the first 3 years or so after which it turned into a weekly event until his passing. I will surely miss him. Please keep Bob and his family in your prayers. Bob would join us on 40 meter CW and bring us up to date on what was going on in his life. One day a wood carving of my call letters showed up in my mail box. What a wonderful gift from him. I met Bob about 3 years ago on 40 meters CW. We chatted in Morse Code a couple of times. I was pleased to meet him at the W5FOC 2016 weekend in Dallas. He was a fine gentleman, he will be missed by many. Lee Young, K5LY
