Robert Keith Ervi's Obituary
Mr. Robert Keith Ervi, age 88, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in Garland, Texas. He was the third son to William and Thelma Ervi of Electra, TX and is survived by his wife, Donna Richardson-Hicks of Garland, TX; his son, Richard Ervi and wife Suzanne of Fairfax, VA; his step-daughter, Kristy Watkins and husband Marcus of Amarillo, TX; his nieces, Donna Marksberry and Susan Hoffman; and his nephews Ron, Steve, Wayne and William Ervi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two older brothers, William and Donald; his baby brother, Jerry; Richard's mother, Lemois Rowland; and his daughter, Laura.
Bob served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years as a helicopter pilot, attaining the rank of Major. He had two tours in Vietnam, where he received two Purple Hearts for wounds in the line of duty, and the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism. He also served in Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), flying President Lyndon B. Johnson and retired General Dwight D. Eisenhower, and received the Presidential Service Badge.
After retirement, he worked as a Systems Analyst for Texas Instruments Incorporated. He was a member of the Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland.
He will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all of the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
