Robert Jess Frame's Obituary
Robert Jess Frame, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at home in Dallas, Texas, on September 8th, 2016 at the age of 81. Robert “Bob” was born in Montrose, Colorado on September 28th, 1934. He grew up in Colorado Springs, graduating from Colorado Springs High School in 1952. He attended the University of Colorado on a full scholarship, where he graduated with honors and degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business Administration and served as president of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Most importantly, he met Jan, the love of his life, at CU, and married her in Northwood, Iowa after a brief courtship. Following graduation, Bob was employed by Shell Oil Company in California, and continued his education at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, earning his MBA in 1958. He then returned to California to work for a major accounting firm and in 1961, participated in the Stanford-Sloan Program at Stanford University. He finished his formal education at University of Colorado in 1966, earning a Ph.D. in economics. The same year, he was hired as a finance and economics professor at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business, where he was later fully tenured and served as associate dean for executive programs. Bob was instrumental in developing the SMU Executive MBA program and the SMU Management Center, which sponsored programs for business and industry leaders. He also served as chairman of SMU’s finance department and was director of its Center for Investment Analysis. Additionally, he was director and chairman of the executive committee of the former Texas American Bank, and was nominated by Mayor Starke Taylor for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board (DART), where he was appointed as director. Bob retired from SMU after over 25 years of service, and subsequently went on to form his own very successful options trading firm, Frame Financial Group, Inc., utilizing his proprietary software model. He very much enjoyed semi-retirement, splitting time between his home in Dallas, and a second home in Laguna Beach, California. What brought him the most happiness later in life was the birth of his grandchildren. He proudest title in life was “Pa.” Pa lived for his family, and the deep love that he showed for them will never be forgotten. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice Halland Frame, brother Jerry Frame, daughter Jennifer Frame Glasscock, son Gregory Robert Frame and wife Michele Hibbeler Frame, grandchildren Katie Glasscock, Ryan Frame, and Sarah Frame, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Florence Mills Frame, father Jess Frame, mother Mary Shirloa Frame, and brother Floyd Frame. A private memorial service for family was held on September 17th, 2016 at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Dallas where he was laid to rest in peace. The family wishes to thank all at Restland for their service and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Heart Association, Ursuline Academy of Dallas, or Operation Kindness, Carrollton.
