Robert Roland Frazier's Obituary
Frazier, Robert Roland Affectionately known as “Rob,” was born August 1, 1918 in Wellsburg, West Virginia and died August 16, 2010 in Richardson, Texas. Rob, a naturally talented musician, was both a “gentleman” and a “gentle man,” respected and loved by all who knew him. His lifelong attendance in the Presbyterian Church reflected an inner faith that was remained strong throughout his lifetime. Rob grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in a family of four boys, a popular student who charm-ed everyone with his quick wit and ready smile. He enlisted in the Army in 1943, was certified as a single engine and twin engine pilot, and served as flight instructor at Majors Field in Greenville, Texas. Before deploying overseas, he married his sweetheart “Jerri,” a lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps, in a marriage that lasted 60 years. A decorated veteran, Rob served two years in the European Theater, piloting a B26 bomber. He was honorably discharged as a captain from the United States Army Air Corps on November 13, 1946 and as a captain in the United States Air Force Reserves on June 17, 1957. He enjoyed a successful 26-year career in sales management for Federal-Mogul Corporation, receiving multiple promotions and regional assignments before retiring in 1981 to live at Cedar Creek Lake. Both a Mason and Shriner, he was a former member of the Shrine El Jebel Temple in Denver, Colorado, the Hella Temple in Garland, Texas, and Cedar Creek Lodge No. 1431, A.F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, James Wayne Frazier and Edna O’Dell Grant Frazier and by his three brothers, James Edwin Frazier, William Marcus Frazier and Wayne Corbett Frazier. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Neilson Frazier. He is survived by the three daughters he adored, Diane F. Walker, Nancy F. Sawvell, and Cynthia Collins-Pridham and two wonderful sons-in-law, Jon C. Sawvell and William C. Pridham. He is also survived by his five loving grandchildren, Frank Starr McGee, IV, Kelly Christine Walker, Jason Robert Sawvell and his wife Stacie, Brent Ryan Walker and his wife Georgiana, and Jon Travis Sawvell and his wife Amy, and also by his new great-granddaughter, Ainsley Marie Walker. A memorial service celebrating Rob’s life will be held Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at NorthPark Presbyterian Church, 9555 N. Central Expwy, Dallas, TX, 75231, with a reception following the service. Rob will be remembered for his dedicated love of country, his wonderful music that entertained so many, his beautiful spirit, and the warm kindness he freely gave to every person he encountered.
