Robert Allen Gamrod's Obituary
Robert Allen "Bob" Gamrod, 73, of McKinney, Texas passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 1, 2022. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 18,1949. He left his beloved Pittsburgh in 1969 and followed his best friend to Texas because college was more affordable here. He completed a bachelor's degree and later pursued his master's degree, as well. Shortly after arriving in Texas, he met his first wife, Lovey, at a Christmas party. They married in 1971, and he adopted her son as his own before going on to have two more children with her. In those early years, he also began a career working for the United States Post Office, finally retiring more than 30 years later. After his first wife passed away in 1977, Bob went on to marry Pam in 1978. They would have 2 additional children together. The family grew up in Garland, Texas, spending approximately 18 years there before Bob and Pam moved to McKinney, Texas with their 2 youngest children, who were still living at home at the time.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lovetta "Lovey" (Clements), his father Albert "Al" Gamrod, and his mother Hazel (Schmidt).
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pamela "Pam" (Kranz) of McKinney, Texas, his stepson Phillip Gamrod of Dallas, Texas, his son Chris Gamrod of Canton, Texas, his daughter Chrystal Spiva (Jim) of Boonville, North Carolina, his daughter Heidi Shaw (Bryan) of Melissa, Texas, and his daughter Jennifer Gamrod (Brad Holland) of Midland, Texas. He is also survived by 8 Grandchildren (Cheyenne and Cam Gamrod, Tifiny, James "Alek," and Alyson Spiva, Kaitlyn and Haleigh Shaw, and William Holland), 2 great grandchildren (Sarah and Cooper Pfeil), his older sister Trudy Aymar (Larry), and his younger brother Richard Gamrod (Connie), both of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bob's greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also thoroughly enjoyed sharing his love of sports with his family, both through watching them engage in athletics and in attending professional sporting events together. Pets were another of his great loves (especially dogs) and he was very good with them. He also enjoyed traveling around the US with his family and sharing many exciting adventures with them. He was so enthusiastic about the things he loved that it made those around him excited to share in them, as well.
