Robert Gokey's Obituary
Robert (Bob) C. Gokey, age 85, was born to parents George Gokey and Virginia Boyer in Marinette, Wisconsin on October 12, 1932. He passed away on May 4, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Olson Gokey, his daughters: Cheryl Gokey Zepeda and husband Jerry and children Natalie and Rachel, Lori Gokey Elliott and husband Greg and children Taylor and Ashlee, his son: Robert J. Gokey and wife Amy and children Leigh, Kyle and Paige, and multiple great grandchildren.Bob served in the 35th infantry of the United States Army, Dec. 12, 1952 – Aug. 18, 1954 where he fought in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and received the Combat Infantry Badge, The Korean Service Ribbon, The Bronze Service Star, The National Service Medal, The Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation and United Nations Service Medal.Bob was an outdoorsman and enjoyed his retreat at Lake Fork where he and wife Pat built their beautiful log cabin “home-away-from-home”. Gardening, bird watching and fishing with the family were favorite pastimes. He was an avid waterfowler and had a passion for deer hunting. And believed in giving back through supporting conservation efforts.A meat trader in the business for 58 years, Bob started his own company, Triple “B” Foods, Inc., in 1981. He was CEO and active participant in the daily operation of the business until the time of his deathThe family requests that visiting hours be observed for Mr. Gokey on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A funeral service for Robert will be on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral service in Section O in Restland Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob’s name to Ducks Unlimited in support of his passion for wildlife conservation: www.ducks.org/memorialFuneral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243.
