Robert C Gonzales' Obituary
On the evening of October 6, 2015 Our Lord and Master called his humble servant, Robert C. “Gunny” Gonzales, “Gunny, come home, come home!” Robert heard his Master’s call and obeyed. His spirit arose from his broken body and hurried home to heaven and everlasting life; where he is reunited with his family that departed this earth before him and who reside there. Robert began his life in Mexia, Texas, born there on June 7, 1932 to Antonio and Raquel Castaneda Gonzales. He graduated from Mexia High School and furthered his studies at the University of Houston. The family that Robert leaves behind here on earth love him and cherish him. They will miss his strong spirit, his persistence that overcame so many challenges with his wit and his eternal optimism. Robert’s surviving family include his brother, Simon Gonzales; his son, Robert Gonzales, Jr.; his daughters Mary Elizabeth Zamora, Rebecca Gonzales Encenia, Rachel Gonzales Martinez, Juanita Gonzales Mendoza and Mary Gonzales Gibson; his fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and his faithful furry companion; his dog Oliver. Our nation is also indebted to Robert for his military service in the Korean War. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA of Dallas, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, TX 75212 or NationalKidney.org 5429 LBJ Freeway #25, Dallas, Texas 75240. A celebration of Robert’s life with his friends and family will occur at the Restland Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel this Monday, October 12, 2015 at 2:30 p.m.
